A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single post
There where some bumps in the road (gear, illness, preparation, money…) but finally I’m off! The original plan was to head to China during winter, but after chatting with some people from Kazakhstan I’ve changed my route a bit due to the extreme cold. Minus 30 degrees Celsius and high winds in the vast open region of the Kazakh Steppe is not unusual and enough to freeze my feet off.
That’s why I’m going to spend the winter in Europe and Ukraine for a couple of months, and hopefully learn some Russian along the way.
When I was home, I tried to put my gear together, mostly buying new stuff because I didn’t have any of it. This is what I’ll carry with me:

All the gear was a big investment for me, but I think it will pay off itself. There is still some money left in case I need it, but I’ll try to spend as little as possible. Working for a couple of days to finance the next trip or occasionally hunt my own food :D,… looking forward to it!
